Cold Wax Medium Workshop – Arrowmont Art School Sept. 27 – Oct. 2, 2026 – SOLD OUT

September 27 @ 9:00 am - October 2 @ 5:00 pm
Free
Abstract landscape painting with warm autumn colors and reflective water.

I am returning this fall to teach for a week at the inspiring Arrowmont Art School in Gatlinburg, TN.

Landscape painting with trees and water.Painting with cold wax medium is an extremely exciting and popular method that combines painting with printmaking, lending itself perfectly to abstraction or representational art. This workshop includes process-oriented techniques that students can learn with no previous art experience and have instantaneous success. Students will build layers of paint on paper or panels using oil and cold wax medium, then learn techniques like using a brayer to flatten shapes, adding marks, digging back in with tools to find the history, drawing with pigment sticks, and scratching through layers. This creative, push-pull process will change how students see things and deepen their practice. Students will leave with finished works of art, ready to hang on the wall.
