Painting Sold at the “Arts in the Garden” Benefiting the Women’s Fund of East TN

I had a lovely time at the Blount Mansion on May 4, 2023 at the “Arts in the Garden” event — a fundraiser for the Women’s Fund of East TN. There were different types of arts and artists at this event. My sister, the potter Janet Harper, and I each donated a piece of work for this event. Our pieces sold and will now go to their new homes which is a lovely thing.

I had painted this picture of crabapples at Ghost Ranch, New Mexico last October when I did an artist’s residency there for a month. It was so wonderful to focus on a detail from a landscape instead of a broad design. The person who bought my painting said that crabapples brought back great memories of her grandmother making jams with them. It’s always magical how a painting can bring back nostalgic feelings and make you feel all sorts of emotions. I LOVE that about art!

It’s always wonderful to support organizations you care about through donations. Thank you Women’s Fund of East TN.
