Commissioned Christmas Card for Pinnacle Bank
I had such a great time doing a commissioned painting for Pinnacle Bank and Financial Partners! I worked with some of the folks there to come up with an idea that would be festive, painterly and different from what they had done in the past. I created “Festive Reflections” using oil paint on a 9 x 14″ panel and printed on a 5″ x 7″ card.
My Christmas tree at home is currently filled with all sorts of different ornaments. So, you may wonder why I chose one shape and color to be repeated on this tree with nothing else but a string of pearls for decoration? I did this for a particular reason. I wanted to create a pattern of round shapes to help simplify the design and to focus on the traditional complementary colors of Christmas–red and green. I wanted to make a bold yet uncomplicated statement.
I created many layers of color to give a very textured, painterly painting. I love to see the artist’s “hand” in a work of art. In this world of digital imagery and NFTs, it’s important to remember that artists create one-of-a kind works that are like nothing you will find anywhere else in the world. I love that idea and think it’s a very important to hold on to that thought. People who make art put their hearts and souls into each work.
My prayer is that when you hold an original work of art, you feel that love and effort that went into each one. And, I hope you can feel it by looking at this digital version of the original painting I created for Pinnacle Bank. Thank you Pinnacle!
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you all!
